Little Hartley

Last week a friend and I ventured out to the Hartley Valley, wanting to take photos of the bush after the recent fires. I’m not exactly sure what I was expecting to see but the first thing that struck me was how quickly the bush regenerates. It’s like it experiences this incredible trauma and then picks itself up, dusts itself off and gets on with the business of starting anew. It’s incredibly inspiring stuff. The colours were amazing… blackened tree trunks amidst the ochres of the scorched leaves… and then the contrast of the vibrant new growth in almost unbelievable shades of green. I have to say it was quite a moving experience and I’ve come away with a deepened respect and wonderment of nature and its strength and beauty.
